Sophie Zega, DACM, L.Ac.
Sophia “Sophie” Zega is a nationally board-certified and Oregon-licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist dedicated to sharing her expertise with the community. She earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2024, after completing a degree in Molecular Biology at Bard College in New York.
Sophie has experience treating a wide range of conditions, including internal medicine concerns, pain management, orthopedic issues, injury rehabilitation, surgical recovery, and support for emotional well-being. Her approach is holistic and patient-centered, blending classical Chinese medical theory with modern research to create an evidence-informed practice tailored to each individual.
Outside the clinic, Sophie finds joy and inspiration in the outdoors. As a born and bred Oregonian, she loves exploring the mountains, tending her garden, and finding balance through trail running, skiing, or cycling. She expresses her creativity through dance, medicine making, and other crafts. You can often find her sipping a Stumptown coffee or cold Northwest brew.
From Sophie's Patients:
I was having a problem with my right hip, which was a big deal b/c I am an avid cyclist, both road and trail....if it ain't raining, I'm riding...and when my MD said arthritis, he prescribed physical therapy and cortisone, both of which did little to relieve the pain...old age, he said...then a neighbor told me about G&L acupuncture, and all I can say is Wow! I'm back riding my usual trails again!
Sophie has a genuine concern for my physical and mental health, she is knowledgeable, and she is a real joy to work with....and did I mention that my hip is much better? Thanx Sophie! (p.s.-- I'm 75 ).
